Heading into the final week of the regular season, Saugus and Golden Valley will play to determine who earns an automatic playoff spot, while Trinity looks to secure a league title.
In the Heritage League, Santa Clarita Christian School will take on No. 1 Faith Baptist, and Valencia looks to finish the year undefeated in the Foothill League against Castaic.
Saugus (7-2, 3-2) vs. Golden Valley (4-5, 3-2)
To close out the regular season, Saugus will host Golden Valley, with the winner taking third place in the Foothill League and earning an automatic playoff berth.
Since dropping their first two league games to Hart and Valencia, Saugus has been on a roll, beating Canyon, West Ranch, and Castaic. During that stretch, quarterback Jake Nuttall has broken multiple program records.
In the game against West Ranch on October 10, Nuttall set a new school record for most touchdown passes in a single game, throwing seven — six of them in the first half.
He finished with 342 passing yards, completing 19 of 22 attempts with a 165.7 QB rating. His top target that night was junior receiver Landon Lattimore, who hauled in five touchdowns, also a program record for most receiving touchdowns in a game.
In the following game against Castaic, Nuttall broke two more records: career passing yards (5,051) and career completions (452).

During Saugus’ three-game win streak, the Centurions have also leaned on running back Ty Hall, who ranks second in the Foothill League with 826 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns.
Golden Valley, meanwhile, has had a rocky season but has remained competitive. Quarterback Jayce Johnson has been one of the Grizzlies’ biggest weapons, throwing for 633 yards and rushing for 336. His elusiveness has allowed him to extend plays and give the offense second chances.
Defensively, Golden Valley has made impact plays, collecting 11 interceptions, eight sacks, and 53 tackles for loss.
Both teams will be looking to make big plays Friday night with a playoff berth on the line. If Saugus loses, they could still qualify as an at-large team, but Golden Valley would be eliminated from playoff contention if they lose, as the CIF requires at-large teams to have a .500 or better record.
Valencia (8-1, 5-0) at Castaic (0-9, 0-5)
Valencia has already clinched its third consecutive Foothill League title and secured a playoff berth, so Friday’s game at Castaic will have little impact on their postseason outlook.
The Vikings have had a dominant season, defeating Simi Valley, Chaminade, and Paraclete, while losing a close one to Bishop Amat. In league play, Valencia has faced little resistance, allowing just 31 points in five games while scoring 231. Their offensive success has been led by quarterback Brady Bretthauer and Washington commit Brian Bonner.

Castaic, on the other hand, has endured a difficult season. The Coyotes lost multiple players in the offseason due to graduation and transfers, leaving them with a young and inexperienced roster. They’ll be fighting to avoid a 0-10 finish in their final game.
Canyon (1-8, 1-4) vs. West Ranch (2-7, 1-4)
Both West Ranch and Canyon have fallen short of their preseason expectations and will look to end their seasons on a high note.
Canyon began the season with wide receiver-turned-quarterback Carson Soria, whose only prior QB experience came briefly on JV.
West Ranch, meanwhile, lost up-and-coming quarterback Blake Johnson to injury for most of the first half of the season, forcing sophomore Humza Harsolia into action. When Johnson returned, he was still working to shake off the rust.

Both programs have made the best of their situations and will meet on Friday at 7 p.m. at Canyon High School.
Hart — Bye Week
Hart finishes the regular season with a bye after playing 10 straight games. The Hawks have already clinched second place in the Foothill League and secured a playoff berth.
Hart has featured some of the league’s most productive players this season. Matix Frithsmith leads the Foothill League in rushing yards (977), receiving yards (952), total touchdowns (21), and kickoff return average (56.75 yards).

Quarterback Jacob Paisano leads the league with 1,945 passing yards and ranks fourth in rushing with 582 yards. The Hawks now await the announcement of their playoff matchup.
Trinity Classical Academy (5-3, 4-0) vs. Santa Rosa Academy (7-2, 3-1)
After starting the season 1-3 in non-league play, Trinity has turned things around with four straight wins and now sits atop the Cottonwood League. A win over Santa Rosa would clinch the league title for the Knights.
Trinity’s success has come from its versatile roster. Andrew Carlson has been a key two-way player, throwing for 885 yards at quarterback and leading the defense with three interceptions, tied with Aidan Visconti.
If Trinity beats Santa Rosa, it will secure its second straight Cottonwood League title.
SCCS (2-6, 2-1) vs. Faith Baptist (6-1, 3-0)
In 8-man football, Santa Clarita Christian has stayed in playoff contention despite a tough season. The Cardinals sit third in the Heritage League with two wins and will face league leader Faith Baptist on Saturday.
A win for SCCS, combined with a Desert Christian loss to Lancaster Baptist, could create an interesting shake-up in the final standings. The game will be played Saturday at 7 p.m. at Hart High School.
