The Hughes Fire, reported behind Station 149 in Castaic Monday afternoon, was knocked down within minutes, officials said.
The brush fire in Castaic, dubbed the Hughes was first reported at about 1 p.m. Monday near Ridge Route Road and Castaic Road, according to Leslie Lua with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
“An informant stated the brush was on fire,” Lua said.
By 1:06 p.m., the Hughes fire reached about a half-acre, with knockdown reported, according to Lua.
A camp crew was requested to continue to the brush fire to assist in completely snuffing out the fire, according to Fire officials.
